Love Once Belonged

Will this love given to me remain
Will it last forever or once again
Be lost through another’s pain?

Will this love gain eternal ascendance?
Or will it be a passing attendance?
Dissolved forever once I’ve left the presence.

Will it speak forth and surround those
Who are yet to come?
Will it envelop them in a peace felt close
And call them home?

Love softly whispers to me
In your first sadness
Even before you could feel
I waited with you.

I always thought that I did not belong
To any love: it knew me before : I was wrong.
