Mr and Mrs Catface

Mary. Next time don’t ask for a Catface.

Because that’s what made John smile. At you.

So, I asked him, “Catface for you too?

And John’s little Laura nods. She says, “A Kitty for me.”

Meaning I sat him, you, and Laura together.

That’s when it happened.

You introduced yourselves. Next you’re both smiling at each other then looking away. Just like now.

So, I’m talking face painting to Laura. While applying the makeup.

Listening to you two.

It’s like you two always knew each other.

So, I finish Laura’s kitty face and take a walk.

Then, I’m checking out carnival row, munching my hot dog. With mustard.

Next, I hear crying and I looks down and there’s Laura’s kitty face saying she’s lost her Dad.

So I start taking her to the lost childrens’.

And say look for a Catface in the crowd.

But instead we spot Mary.

I know that face. After all I painted it.

I tell Mary where we’re going. And to find Daddy Catface.

And we nearly made it to the Lost Childrens’

I saw him first. Finding painted faces is my strength. He was past the carousel, next to the Ferris Wheel.

He hugged you. And almost kissed Mary.

Then he says something about strangers.

I say, I’m no stranger, I painted Laura’s kitty face. And you and Mrs Catface.

So we all have an ice cream. I go back to my shift. And that’s love.

Until I got the invite.

To the Bride and Groom, Mr and Mrs Catface.
