After the Infatuation

Yes this might possibly be
the words you’d rather not hear,
those that hurt forever spoken by me,
that uncovered our greatest fear.

I intended to fall out of love,
Set aside the infatuation part,
Release the now deadened dove,
And still the over palpitating heart.

Now you’ve heard you’re worried i see
Your eyes blink and now can’t meet mine,
Your guess perhaps our life will always be
An endless list of faults recited line by line.

I know your imperfections that’s clear.
And love post infatuation will have no fear.
