only you are there

I know. I know.
I know you know.

What you’ve done to call to and kindle your sadness.
I know your days despite your loss and wanderings.
I know your days : ones of healing and slow respite,
I know you’re lost to the winnowing wind, for now.

Listen, I’m only whispering, there are those words to say,
words that call and return,
words that could change us.

Will you say them?
Will you call to them?
Will you hope for them?
Will you hear them?

I too have lost,
I too have loved,
in this passing life.
I do still.
I will still.

Look beyond the sands in the desert,
Lost to the sun, led through the sky,
Weathered first by wind then laved by rain,
Even the seeds are called home again.

Come, home, then.
Come home again and fail beyond me.
Come home again and heal beyond fear.
Say only you are there and I will let you in.
